Ute Strong

Dear Utah Football Season Ticket Holder,

During these unprecedented times, many of us within Utah Athletics have reflected on just how fortunate we are to be surrounded by more than 500 dedicated, passionate and hard-working student-athletes as they pursue their dreams and aspirations. But we are also thinking of you, our most loyal supporters, who continually invest in our students' academic and athletics success through your ticket purchases and donations. Thank you for always being there for our student-athletes, coaches and staff.

Now, as we move forward into a fall with no athletic competition, our focus must be on the incredible young men and women as they face new adversity and refocus their energies into their academic, career and athletic development. We have seen record-setting grade point averages and graduation rates the past few years and we have no intention of letting up. As proud members of this community, we will continue to serve wherever we can to make a positive impact on people's lives.

As our student-athletes continue to do their part, we need to do ours. Utah Athletics, like many of our peers, is facing an unprecedented financial challenge as we navigate the impacts of this pandemic. At this time, we anticipate a $55-60 million revenue loss just in this fiscal year alone. We are prepared to weather this storm, in part because of your generosity through the years, along with difficult but necessary cost-saving measures within the department

I write you today to respectfully ask you to consider, as you have so many times, to reinvest in Utah Athletics.

First and foremost, we are grateful for the support that you have shown by purchasing 2020 football season tickets in support of the Utes. We would be honored if you would please consider donating all or a portion of your season ticket costs to support our student-athletes. Your donations are essential to sustaining our academic success and preserving our competitive momentum for over 500 student-athletes. Donations, such as the season-ticket cost, are tax-deductible, and those made during this challenging time come with additional incentives, in appreciation for the financial commitment that we are asking of you.

In June, I completed my second year at The University of Utah. My family and I have been so blessed to become a part of this incredible community and we are forever grateful for the opportunity. I am convinced that, together, our community, our student-athletes, our coaches and staff and our University, will emerge from this challenge more united and stronger than ever before.

Thank you for your consideration and, as always, GO UTES!

With Gratitude,
Mark Harlan
